For my entire life, I have felt extremely alienated from modern human beings, and although my choices to live a very different life than most have provided me with an acute sense of autonomy, they have only further reinforced my need to withdraw from society, and to isolate myself. I have tried time & time again to get involved in numerous social institutions, and every failure of mine to remain consistent, for reasons abashed, reinforces my want-become-need... to escape. I want to believe that I will remain in society because I love those who are close to me so much, but I tremble at the feasibility of the following:

1. That a vain redemption of unnaturally imposed shame is what keeps me trying,

2. That fear of a failure which would involve my crawling back, on hands and knees, to become again: a worthless visionary to an indifferent civilization, is what restrains me from leaving.
